By the early 1860’s, the market for small repeating percussion cap pistols had reached an all-time high. In response, the Colt Firearms company began scaling down their large framed revolvers into smaller versions to meet the civilian demand. One such example of this is the 1862 Pocket Navy. As the name suggests, it takes much of its design from the 1851 Navy such as the octagonal barrel and conventional loading lever. The Pocket Navy became popular among Civil War Officers on both sides of the conflict, who weren’t expected to see front line combat but still needed a smaller weapon for personal defense.
Uberti’s 1862 Pocket Navy Revolver is an authentic reproduction of the original down to the last detail, including the 5-shot engraved barrel, octagonal barrel and conventional loading lever.
