Description
Meprolight’s microRDS delivers the ultimate aiming solution for virtually any handgun! The microRDS utilizes a unique mounting system, which utilizes the rear sight dovetail to mount the microRDS adapter. This adapter serves both as a picatinny rail and as a backup iron sight, featuring the Meprolight Tru-Dot self-illuminated sight. The microRDS itself attaches a via quick-detach mount, and can be detached/re-attached without the need to re-zero the optic. In addition to being an outstanding pistol-optic, the microRDS is highly suited for on shotguns, or as a backup sight to a magnified optic on rifles.

I was skeptical but thought for the price I would at least get a nice set of tritium sights. After 150 rounds (100-125 Gr. LCN and 50-FMJ) the red dot held its zero perfectly. I shot the first 15 with the red dot, then 5 without. Remounted the red dot for 15 rounds, then 5 without, and repeated the 15 red dot and 5 iron sights until I had expended the 150 rounds I had with me. The Red Dot performed flawlessly throughout and maintained zero, even through multiple unmounting/mountings. The iron tritium sights are fast to acquire in all lightings due to the white outlines. While the red dot mounts slightly higher that an MOS set-up, the ability to have backup irons without the need for a large front iron sight I feel is a fairly good compromise. Only issue I have is when holstered (Alien Gear hybrid IWB) the red dot has a tendency to find its way to the brightest setting. Recessing the controls slightly should solve this issue. Adding shake awake functionality would also be nice for this sight as I mounted it on my bedside gun.
