USASOC didn't field this charging handle because it looked good on a shelf. The Geissele URG-I 5.56 Black Airborne Charging Handle 05-664B was developed for demanding tactical environments first, and the reputation followed from actual use, not a spec sheet. This version brings that same field-tested design into a Type III hardcoat black anodized finish, forged from 7075-T6 aluminum in the USA for shooters who want the proven Airborne geometry without the DDC coloring.

As an Ambidextrous charging handle, it's built with short extended claw latches on both sides, so left- and right-handed shooters get equally fast, natural manipulation instead of favoring one side. Checkered surfaces on those latches keep grip solid whether you're bare-handed or running gloves. The low-profile lever design carries over from the rest of the Airborne lineup too, staying tucked in close to avoid snagging on slings, plate carriers, or gear during movement — a small thing until a bulkier handle catches on something at the worst moment.
