Tikka T3x RoughTech Superlite Rifles
Anyone who's packed a rifle up a mountain knows the last mile is where the weight starts to hurt. The Tikka T3x RoughTech Superlite Rifles are built for that last mile. Tikka spells it Superlite, though plenty of hunters type Tikka T3x superlight into a search bar and land here anyway. You get a stainless barreled action under Cerakote, a fluted barrel and bolt, and a grippy Roughtech stock. By most published specs, the .308 comes in a little over 6 pounds. We stock four calibers right now, each in two finishes.
What Every Superlite Has
Every Tikka Roughtech Superlite is built on a stainless steel receiver with a cold hammer forged stainless barrel. Both are Cerakoted, so rain, sweat and the odd scrape on a rock don't bother them. Fluting the barrel cuts weight. The bolt is spiral-fluted as well, with an oversized knob you can work in gloves. US specs show a 5/8x24 thread, but check the listing to be sure.
The stock is textured all over, so it stays put in wet hands. The pistol grip swaps out, and attachment points on the forend let you widen it for a steadier rest off your pack. Every model holds 3+1.
The Calibers
.308 Win
The Tikka Superlite 308 is the only 20-inch rifle in the group. That makes it the lightest and quickest to swing, and the easiest to carry through timber. It's also the one to put a suppressor on, since a short barrel keeps the overall length sensible. Twist is 1:10. If you hunt deer, black bear, or anything inside normal hunting distances, this rifle covers it.
6.5 PRC
This one has a 24-inch barrel with a 1:8 twist, and it shoots noticeably flatter than the .308. Recoil stays mild for a magnum-length case. It's a good fit for sheep, mule deer, or a pronghorn across a big flat.
7mm Rem Mag
The Tikka T3x RoughTech Superlite 7mm Rem Mag is the elk rifle in the lineup. It has a 24-inch barrel with a 1:9.5 twist, and it carries plenty of energy downrange without much of a jump in kick.
.300 Win Mag
The Tikka T3x Superlite 300 Win Mag hits hardest of the four, for moose, elk at long range, or anything big. It also shares the 24-inch barrel. In a rifle this light, you'll feel every shot, so a brake or suppressor is worth thinking about.
How to Choose a Tikka Roughtech Superlite
Where you hunt. In timber, or on mostly sub-300-yard shots, pick the 20-inch .308. It's shorter, lighter and handier. In open country, where shots can stretch past 400 yards, look at the 24-inch barrels, which give you the velocity to reach out.
What you're after. For deer and similar game, the .308 or 6.5 PRC is plenty. For elk, the 7mm Rem Mag is our default pick. Reach for the .300 Win Mag when it's moose, big bulls at distance, or a hunt where you want extra margin.
How much recoil you'll put up with. A 6-pound rifle doesn't absorb much kick. The .308 and 6.5 PRC are comfortable for most shooters. The two magnums are manageable but sharp, and either one gets far nicer with a brake or a can.
Finish. This is purely about looks. Coyote Tan has a black stock with tan webbing and Coyote Tan Cerakote metal, and it blends well in dry, open country. Ember/Tungsten has a black stock with an ember-orange web and grey Tungsten Cerakote metal. Both finishes come in every caliber, and the rifle underneath is the same.
