Geissele Automatics delivers a Mil-Spec SBR at an unbeatable price with the ALG Defense El Corto. Both the upper and lower receivers are built from the ground up using the best possible quality materials and manufacturing techniques. The receiver set begins with domestically sourced 7075 aluminum billets, which are heat treated at around 1,000°F before being hammered into a rough shape using a 1,100 ton forge press. The upper and lower receivers are then machined on a CNC horizontal machining center and finished with a Mil-Spec Type 3 black anodized hardcoat. Mated to the upper receiver is a premium 11.5-inch barrel topped an A2 flash hider and a Geissele 17-4 PH stainless steel gas block with a Geissele extended carbine-length gas tube. The barrel is button rifled and hard chrome plated to ensure optimal corrosion and wear resistance. This design gives the barrel an exceptionally long service life and maintains accuracy for thousands of rounds even at a high rate of fire. The El Corto's buffer tube is outfitted with Geissele's own Super 42 Braided Wire Buffer Spring. The spring is composed of three independent strands of wire – the same design used by the German MG42 Machinegun – allowing the strands to flex independently from each other. This displaces energy, decreases the risk of spring failure, and makes the El Corto more reliable. The Super 42 Braided Wire Spring’s return force is roughly 15% stronger than a standard spring, which enhances the El Corto’s ability to strip cartridges out of the magazine when the weapon is dirty or when using steel case ammunition.
