I get headaches if I ever use inferior quality binoculars. As such I own a pair of 10x Leica's and 8x Swarovski's. I have a Vortex spotting scope, but I do not like it for long sessions. I decided a good solution would be a pair of 15 to 18 power binoculars. I looked at several brands and I was really only satisfied with the Swarovski 15x SLC's... except for the price! I hadn't see the Steiner HX 15x56's in local stores, but the reviews I read were all very favorable. I figured I could return them if I didn't like them, so I thought I would give them a try since they were half the price. I didn't have very high expectations, so when they came in I was really surprised at how crisp and sharp they were. Now after spending time with them here are some thoughts. I think they are equally sharp and crisp with the Swarovski's and Vortex 18x binoculars and far superior the rest I looked at (I did not compare with the Leica's), but pretty much everything else. The ergonomics and eye cups are fantastic. They advertise a "fast focus" but it is not too fast like the Zeiss pair I tried. They also advertise a "polycarb frame." That raised some concerns with me. It sounded cheap, but they feel rock solid and the rubber coating is exceptional. I still don't know what a polycarb frame is, but I have no worries about it and they have a lifetime warranty anyhow. I wasn't sure about the individual eye focus using clicks, but I actually like it because once I find the right click for my eyes they never move. I also love how whether far or near, I never have to change that eye setting again. They are perfectly dialed in. They are brighter (during the day) than my Leica's and equally as bright as the Swarovski's. I know that is just different coatings, because in low light situations, the Leica's do provide a richer image with more detail to my eyes. They seem about equal to the Swarovski's in low light conditions although the Swarovski's seem to have a slightly "richer" color saturation. All-in-all, the Steiner HX 15x56's are a fantastic pair of binoculars. After spending time with them, I would never be able to justify the extra cost for the Swarovski's. I am so glad I gave them a shot! Highly recommended to even the most particular hunter or "glass snob!"

Never before have I had binoculars that could read the detail on the next mountain over, easily 1600-2000 yards. They perform extremely well in low light. These should be perfect for spot and stalking long distances. They are a bit heavy so you will also want a tripod and/or shoulder straps.

These Steiner 15x56 HX binoculars are amazing. Have been looking for over 15 years for a solution to see details of trophy deer. They pick up light very well. (German Zeiss made 10x40 are my old pair and nothing has tempted me until these.) Tried cheaper spotting scopes with limited success. P.S. The Steiner’s are an incredible value! Buy yourself a pair, you will not be disappointed.

My name is Wayne S. I live in Alabama and have owned a Steiner night hunter pair of binoculars for somewhere in the neighborhood of 8 to 10 years and have been very very happy with them. I am not sure what caused the night hunters to get moisture inside of them but will say I used them, didn't abuse them but they where we'll used. After the moisture showed up inside of night hunters I sent them back to Steiner for repair and instead of repair Steiner sent me back a new pair that was I think even better than the night hunter. So I rate Steiner no. 1 because they stand completely behind what they sell. I will always recommend Steiner to anyone because just because the sale is over Steiner is always their backing up their product . Thanks SteinerWayne S. Alabama

My new Steiner 15 x 56 HX have excellent glass and are lighter weight than I was expecting. I use these for PRS matches and it gives me the wide and ease of finding my targets. And the pricing for my Steiners is unexpectedly low compare to other high end binoculars.
