I called Jason at Eurooptics and told him I was looking for a lightweight rifle. He recommended the Barrett Fieldcraft rifle. I am very happy with this gun. It is very lightweight, built very well and really lives up to the Barrett name. It is a no frills rifle, no bottom metal, no detachable mag, pretty basic design. None of that detracts from the rifle. The stock is built very well, the bolt mechanics are smooth and repeatable and the trigger is very nice. Mine came out of the factory test pulling at 2.9lbs. Accuracy is also great on the gun as well. I have a 300 yard range on our hunting lease and I have no trouble hitting the steel gong at 300 yards with this gun. I do not try to get some crazy small group at that range, I am happy hitting a 6 inch gong. At 100 and 200 yards, the gun is very accurate. At 100, I put three of five rounds through pretty much the same hole, with one I yipped high and the fifth about a half inch low. I was shooting suppressed using an AAC, although I think an Omega might be a better fit as it is a little shorter. Bottom line, if you are looking for a nice, well built, short barrel, lightweight gun with a threaded barrel, this is a great choice.
