Description

The 1301 Tactical is Beretta's new gas operated semi-automatic shotgun designed for law enforcement and home defense. Right out of the box, the 1301 Tactical features an oversized charging handle, large textured bolt release, and an oversized reversible safety button. The integrated BLINK gas operating system, featuring a cross tube gas piston, allows the 1301 tactical to cycle 36% faster than any other shotgun on the market. Available in an 18.5" barrel configuration, the 1301 Tactical features a robust, protected sighting system that uses a ghost ring for the rear sight and an interchangeable front blade sight. The receiver offers a MIL-STD 1913 picatinny rail. The Stock features an aggressive checkering pattern and length of pull is adjustable with the provided spacers. Drop and Cast can be adjusted as well.

I was looking for a light-weight low recoil firearm for home defense. My initial choice was a Benelli M4 but after testing the Beretta 1301 I could not justify the extra $800. Yes, the Benelli is the smoother weapon... So, compared to other shotguns, especially Mossberg, the Beretta stands out with low recoil and much less weight. Shooting tight group at 50 yards is not the sweetspot of this rifle but anything 25 yards and under dead on with "cheap" Remington slugs . A perfect home defense gun and a perfect gun for hunting in brush. BTW: This baby fires 5 rounds under one second, just for the record.

The specs listed for this fine shotgun do need to be corrected. The Tactical model is a non choke smooth cylinder. Beretta claims merely a 4+1 capacity once the 2 she'll plug is removed. There might be a few 2 3/4 shells that are compact enough to accommodate 5.@ Otherwise, this 1301 Tactical is superb!
