I have had the angle version of this scope with the 25-50x eyepiece (a better optic than the older 30-60x) for about 6 years now (the bodies were magnesium back then). The image is bright and clear. The swaro ATX-STX might tempt you, but the 80 mm STS is much lighter than even the 65 mm ATX-STX, so if you are carrying it into the field, give this beauty a chance. Recently I have started digiscoping with this combined with a DSLR, and I have been pleasantly surprised with the images I have obtained.
