Works OK with the Zeiss Terra ED 10 X 42mm Binocs I have when I use it with a Manfrotto MonoPod. It fits with the monopod's 3/8" mounting bolt (will fit a 1/4" bolt as well). However, I wanted to use my Binocs with my Manfrotto tripod and its adjustable rotating Ball Socket which accepts a mounting plate in its clamp. This does NOT fit in the clamp. So much for the "Universal Tripod Adapter" idea. I don't know why Zeiss wouldn't "engineer" the universal tripod mounting port on the binocular unit itself to accept a 1/4" or 3/8" (or metric) adapter mounting bolt like what is standard, tried and true in the industry. It's not like it's a new, expensive-to-manufacture idea! It's blatantly obvious the corporation has extra revenue in mind with this design, and no other reason for it. At around $200 a pop for a minimally useful not-so-universal accessory (which is almost 50% of the cost of these Zeiss optics with the missing adapter port), I'd seriously re-think this purchasing decision (of the Zeiss Terra ED's, let alone this "Universal Tripod Adapter") if the application you're after is spending time viewing with an adjustable tripod. There are easier, cheaper and more efficient options that have been proven over time. I may decide to carefully re-shape part of the base on this ill-designed puppy to make it so it will snugly slide into the clamp on the tripod ball. At least it would become more useful to me.
