Springfield Armory's XD has an ergonomic design that helped set the standard for polymer pistols. This series of pistols features the same grip angle as the 1911s whether it is the Full-size, compact or subcompact version. All XD pistols come standard with a grip safety and the Ultra Safety Assurance (USA) Action Trigger System which keeps the trigger from moving in a rearward direction without being intention moved. XDs also come standard with an accessory rail, ambidextrous magazine release and a fully supported ramped barrel.
