Tikka T3x Lite Roughtech Rifles

What the Roughtech Adds to the T3x Lite

The Stock

The whole stock on the Tikka T3x Lite Roughtech has a rough, almost sandpaper-like texture. Wet hands, gloves, a sweaty September stalk, it doesn't slip. There's a web pattern over the color, too, which breaks up the outline a bit. Most of what we stock is Tan (black web on desert). You'll also find a Black model and an Ember one.

Bolt and Bolt Knob

Tikka fluted the bolt so it keeps running when there's grit or ice in the action. It saves a few ounces as well. The knob is noticeably bigger than on a standard Lite, and you'll appreciate that the first time you cycle it in winter gloves. It's still the familiar two-lug T3x bolt with a 70-degree lift.

Barrel

Every T3x barrel is cold hammer forged, and it shoots well without a break-in period. A lot of these Roughtech models are threaded. Several list a 5/8x24 pitch, so adding a brake or can later is easy.

How to Choose a Tikka T3x Lite Roughtech

Standard Calibers

If you hunt whitetail in the timber, start here. The Tikka T3x Lite Roughtech .308 comes with a 20- or 22-inch barrel, and that shorter length is nice in a treestand. The Tikka T3x Lite Roughtech .270 Win runs 22.4 inches. We've got .30-06 Sprg and 6.5 Creedmoor as well. There's also the Tikka T3x Lite Roughtech 6mm Creedmoor if you'd rather keep recoil to a minimum.

Magnums

Planning an elk hunt or a lot of open country? The magnums all wear 24-inch barrels. Our pick for most people is the Tikka T3x Lite Roughtech 6.5 PRC. It shoots flat, and it won't beat you up at the bench. For bigger animals farther out, there's the Tikka T3x Lite Roughtech 7mm Rem Mag and the Tikka T3x Lite Roughtech .300 Win Mag. The .270 WSM and .300 WSM are in the lineup too. Tikka fitted an upgraded recoil pad, and you'll feel it with the bigger rounds.
