Description

Involved in every US military conflict since Operation Just Cause, the Remington M24 Sniper Rifle has proven itself as a versatile, accurate, and valuable tool in the hands of any marksman. For the first time ever, the legendary Remington M24 Sniper Rifle is now available for pre-order exclusively from EuroOptic! Only 500 of these special edition rifles will be available to the general public – each with the prefix "ASA1987" commemorating the founding of the US Army Sniper School and Army Sniper Association in 1987. Every M24 sold as part of this special event was hand-built by the same craftsmen who have been manufacturing the M24 Sniper Rifle as part of the M24 Sniper Weapons System for the last 30+ years. This rifle is a must have for any collector, precision shooting enthusiast, or former DoD sniper who may have trained or was deployed with the M24 Sniper Weapon System (SWS).

The M24 Sniper Rifle is chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO (.308 Winchester) is outfitted with a 24" 416 stainless steel bull (#8 contour) barrel. The barrel is 5R rifled with a 1:11.25" right hand twist that provides excellent accuracy for almost all .308 loads. Additionally, the barrel features a post for the attachment of a front target sight found on all M24 Sniper Rifles. Despite being chambered for a short action cartridge the M24 is built on the Remington 700 long action – allowing the rifle to be rechambered for the .300 Winchester Magnum (bolt change/modification required), a request made by the US Army when the M24 was developed.

The single stage trigger was designed specifically for the M24 Rifle, is externally adjustable from 3.5-5 pounds, and the internal magazine holds up to 5 cartridges. The stock of the M24 Sniper Rifle is as solid as they come – produced by HS Precision, the stock is made from aramid fiber-reinforced composite. Additionally, the stock is hand adjustable for length of pull. The M24’s action is mounted to the stock via rigid aluminum mounting block that free floats the rifle's barrel for enhanced accuracy and repeatability when using a bipod or shooting bag. The M24 ships in a Plano ProMax PillarLock Scoped rifle hard case.

Don’t miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity to own the M24, a rifle that has served honorably and reliably with members of the US Armed Forces for three decades!

Been looking to own this rifle for the longest time. When I received an email that EuroOptic will be working with Remington to release a handful of these rifles, I got excited knowing that I wouldnt have to shell out $5k-$7k for an SWS kit. I do have a question though...what will these rifles come with? Will these come with the iron sights as depicted in the picture and maybe even a sling? Hoping someone from EuroOptic can chime in.

EO: Hey Mike, yes, we're excited too - this is really a special opportunity, the M24 is an awesome piece of history and it's important also to note that Remington Defense is making these, not Remington's regular commercial division. With respect to the kit, it will be minimal; it will have the sights as pictured, but it will not include a case or a sling. These items drove up the cost of the item exponentially, and the rifle as we're selling it is the best value for everyone from our judgement. We are having some custom cases made up for these - as soon as we have them in our catalog, they'll be linked to this listing.

Edit 10/23/2019:
To confirm, these M24s are drilled and tapped for the rear iron sight mount but will only include the front iron sight mount and riflescope bases.

I love the M24 SWS. And because of that I bought a Remington 700 5R GEN 1. I have a quick question. Besides the Prefix “ASA1987”, are there any other part of the gun that is different from the legit M24 that was issued to the US Army? I understand this is a commemorative edition.

Do these have new stocks or do they have the "re-issued" stocks and hardware like the ones Remington released a few years ago? EuroOptic: These will have new stocks.

The statement, "Despite being chambered for a short action cartridge the M24 is built on the Remington 700 long action – allowing the rifle to be rechambered for the .300 Winchester Magnum,..." is somewhat misleading since the rim diameters of the two cartridges are different. So, beyond rechambering, the buyer would need to replace the bolt or have the original bolt face enlarged. EuroOptic-- good point, deserves a little research and rewording. On it.--

I called EuroOptics 2 hours before their posted opening hours on a whim, to leave a message asking about this rifle. Jason answered the phone 2 hours before they opened, answered my questions, I gave him payment, and he shipped the rifle that day. 5 days later, I received the rifle. She is a gorgeous piece of machinery, magnificently robust. Makes my 700P look like a toy. I painted the stock tonight, and will be having the barrel threaded this weekend. Fitted with the Q Full Nelson can, and an SWFA SS 10x42M by early next week. I've wanted this rifle for 20 years since first seeing one at Fort Campbell. Wowza. Buy one, don't sit and think about it. Replicas from some big name, high quality custom shops are damn near $4000.

My rifle is 1/2" MOA out of the box with match & handloaded ammo. Love it.

Absolutely love this rifle. I have a Remington 700P in .308 which is a close approximation and I also love, but not the same thing. I took my M24 out to the range with a Leupold mk4 and had no problems sighting it in. My buddy and I went out the next day to continue the break in process but the winds were really blowing. We decided that was just good training and I achieved a first round hit at 550 yards with 15 to 20 mph winds, my buddy called the wind. Ended the day with good hits, better wind, at 700 and 900 yards.

I just had my local FFL get one on order for me. Couldn't be more excited! I'm also wondering if these have the front and rear iron sight bases, and if they have the sights as well, or, if it just has the front base (without sight) and the two-piece scope bases as pictured?

I’ve always wanted one, finally got mine a few years ago, didn’t disappoint, great rifle I’ve achieved best group ever .124 MOA @t 200 yards I’m outshooting SAKOS using custom loads, I think my biggest group was .325 MOA I can’t say this enough love it, it loves 175 GMMK ammunition as well as 168 GMMK. If you ever come across one please buy it you won’t regret it.

How many of the 500 rifles have been sold?

EO: As of May 2021, about 90% of the 500-gun run has been sold, and given Remington's current situation, it doesn't seem likely that another run will be produced.

Got mine in on Friday. Took it out to the range for barrel break in. No copper at all during the short regime. I say short because the barrel was cleaning up with 4-5 patches with no copper to be found. Loaded match grade ammo and shot a 3 shot group at 100 yards. All three were touching. Was really surprised with the trigger. It says it can be adjusted down to three pounds. As a long range competitor, I was expecting a hard trigger pull. Not in this case. Trigger had no creep and broke crisp. NICE!! Took it out to 400 yards and rung our 12'X12" steel plate every time. Rifle is well mannered with no jumping on the bipod. It's a keeper. Shot one on the range when I was in the Army. Always wanted one to complement my collection. Well now I have one and it's a commemorative model at that. Very happy with my purchase.

Great rifle, well balanced, heavy... but worth every ounce. Waiting to dress it over as soon as possible to test those long shots... Another one is coming.

Just got it from my FFL a couple days ago. Absolutely love it. And that is without having shot it yet. But I’m sure it will meet every expectation. I’m glass shopping now and want to put a scope on equally as nice. The case is better than a box. I’ll probably put this in a Pelican or similar.

Does this come with BOTH the front and rear iron sight bases? The picture shows only the front but one would think it's completely pointless if it does not have both. Edit 10/23/2019:

The reason the rifle is chambered in 308 with a long action is because the Army, in particular USASOC wanted to have the ability to convert the rifle to 300wm. This never came to fruition due to a lot of issues to include the cost of 300 win mag ammo. For all intensive purposes the Mk13 Mod 5 and M2010 are M24's that were chambered in 300wm.

Purchased one of these a few months back and it has only been a dream to shoot. It has only shot beautifully out to 1000 yards. Really glad i was able to grab one of these and it is one of my favorite rifles in my collection.

I have a M24 and it really shoots great, I keep reading about how the front and rear sights bases are installed. That is all fine and good, but I want to purchase a set of missing sights.

A buddy of mine got lucky and managed to pickup a rebuilt one recently at a gun show and I've been envious ever since. However, I noticed that his did not come with the rear and front sight mounts, as they were replaced with screws instead. Out of curiosity, will the rifle come with the rear+front mounts/bases so a scope or sights can be attached? Also, how far out is the wait time for one of these currently if I were to buy one? And being a special release in collaboration with Eurooptic, will "Eurooptic" be marked anywhere on the rifle? Thanks.

EuroOptic: Josh, we will not have any special markings on these rifles.

I picked my M24 17MAR21 from my FFL. Rifle shipped quickly after ordering. Took it home cleaned and inspected. The three stars is not a knock on the M24 system I'm just particular. It is a well put together rifle and is a very solid system. I adjusted the trigger pull, after the adjustment the little allen screw on the trigger sticks out and irritates my trigger finger after a few dry fire practice. To me it just seems to be a factory long action with an M24 barrel and adjustable trigger for the price point. If you are a history buff this is the rifle for you. If you are particular like me, you're money maybe better spent on another rifle/system. Overall, I am happy with my purchase and will be installing a different trigger.

Do these have new stocks or do they have the "re-issued" stocks and hardware like the ones Remington released a few years ago?
