Description

Leupold’s line of VX-3HD riflescopes were designed to meet the demands of hunters and shooters who needed a riflescope capable of performing in low light conditions. The VX-3HD achieves this with Leupold’s own Elite Optical System which provides excellent light transmission even in the weak light of dawn and dusk, as well as reducing glare in harsh light for supreme clarity. It also sports an exposed elevation turret equipped with CDS ZeroLock technology, preventing any accidental adjustments.

Features of the Leupold VX-3HD Riflescope:

  • Leupold’s Elite Optical System
  • CDS ZeroLock dial
  • Exposed elevation turret
  • Integrated, removable throw leaver

I have this scope on a Ruger American Ranch in 300BLK that I use as a woods gun. The VX-3HD is a perfect combination of size, weight and optical quality. The throw lever on the magnification ring is a huge plus as well. Plenty to easily use, even with gloves, but not so big that it gets in the way. As for the glass, I do some photography on the side, so I tend to be critical. I could honestly tell no difference between my VX-3HD and my VX-5HD 3-15X42, aside from some some noticable fish-eye effect around the edges of the VX5 at lower power. While hunting with my son toward dusk, the 44mm objective on the VX5 gave maybe 3 - 4 minutes more usable light, and that's being generous. I think that the 2.5 - 8 would have been even better for my application, but I'm still thrilled with the whole package! This scope is worth every penny!
