Description

Based off their 1947 Swiss service pistol, Sig Sauer pays homage to one of their most historic pistols with the Custom Works P210 Carry. This high-performance, aesthetically pleasing handgun retains the same reputation for accuracy as its predecessor thanks to a crisp single action trigger with an E-Nickel coating, and well as high-visibility Siglite night sights. The pristine accuracy of the Custom Works P210 Carry is perfectly matched by its flawless appearance. The slide has been meticulously polished into a sleek, glossy black finish and is rounded out with ornate scrollwork engraving. The handsome sidearm also features slim grips made from Caribbean Rosewood, which gives the weapon a timelessly classic quality and offers a comfortable purchase on the weapon.

As soon as I heard about this fine firearm, I quickly researched and read as much as I could about it, and went ahead and pulled the trigger for the purchase of one of these beauties. Although I have not shot this firearm yet, I am still able to give an I formative review of the aesthetics and the build quality etc... I have experience with the American made P210‘s, as I own the target model and I have owned and sold the previous carry model that was released last year, as well as the standard model!!! All of these pistols have been extremely nice, well-built and very reliable! With all that being said, there was no doubt that I wanted to get one of these custom shop issued P210 pistols. It is Limited edition, and I can say that with sigsauer, they usually mean that and sometimes you will never see the item again once it’s sold out. From what I can tell and have read, the first carry model that was released is discontinued at this moment, so this was an easy decision. The price is quite a bit higher than the original Carry model that was released last year, but with the upgraded grips, the coated nickel trigger, polished slide and limited edition factor, I would say it’s definitely worth the extra money if you are able to splurge. The grips are extremely beautiful and well done. They are thin, but feel really good in the hand. I have medium hands and I’m able to get a nice firm comfortable grip/purchase on the gun. I would think somebody with large hands would be able to do the same thing. One thing I noticed right off the bat, is when you pop the magazine out, the mag well is pretty much hollow. There is a frame outline that the wood grips go on it,but it’s just the framework and hollow walls. I think they might’ve done this to lessen the weight if the firearm! I will have to see if it affects the shooting of this firearm when I go to shoot it. The slide is absolutely beautiful. The scroll work is done by a laser I believe, but it’s actually indented a little bit into the slide, which was a really nice touch. The polished slide looks very beautiful and has a deep bluing type of look to it. The action is extremely smooth and precise, while the sights look good and of course they are night sites, so this would make a great home defense firearm as well. Finally, sigsauer packaged the firearm in a very nice case that has Precise cut foam for the gun to rest in. It’s not the thick high-performance foam, but it will do the job of protecting the gun quite nicely while the gun is in the case! This is the first time I have purchased a sigsauer firearms, where they spent some money to make a nice case for the gun, instead of a cheap piece of crap that the gun fits poorly in! You get three magazines with this firearm, the extra magazine is nice, because the cost of these magazines are usually $40-$50 apiece. Yes, the magazines are 8+1 and I’m pretty sure this gun will have the same issue as the other P210 American made guns, when you have a full eight round mag in the gun and you chamber a round into the barrel, if you drop the mag to top the mag off at any point, the number 7 round usually comes out of the magazine and falls down the mag well. I have talked to sigsauer about this issue and at first they denied it vehemently, but upon further conversations they finally admitted to this series of gun and a few other series model guns of theirs having the same issue. Something to do with the feeding lips on the magazines, but they say it’s designed that way. As long as you don’t try to top the magazine off you should not have any issues and the gun should fire reliably every time. As far as the magazine and capacity only being eight rounds, anybody that’s reading this review or looking at this gun should already know you’re paying for the craftsmanship, reliability, function and beauty. This is not a standard Glock, Taurus, Ruger or many other cheaper firearms That may function and work fine, but are not nearly as aesthetically pleasing or mechanically well-built as this firearm is. Nor can these other firearms mentioned reliably & consistently mimic what this p210 firearm is cable of!!! So if you’re looking for a double stack, red dot capable and ultrafast firing pistol, this is not the pistol for you. However, if you cannot hit what you’re shooting at with eight rounds in the magazine of a gun that is this extremely accurate, then a double stack mag pistol with double the capacity, probably is not going to be any better for you. I will update after I shoot this firearm, but I highly recommend it to anybody that can find a way to get one. This has nothing to do with the gun, but I would like to add that sig sauer Customer Service does not live up to my expectations. I hope if sigsauer employees are reading this review, they will pass on to the higher-ups that they need to be more cordial, respectful and attentive to their customers. Instead of being rude, grumpy and trying to hide or argue facts. Also, if people are out there paying the prices to buy your products, that is your customer, you should treat them and value them like gold. No excuse you can give me, will excuse anything less for your customers! When I call Kimber, when I call Ruger and even when I call Smith and Wesson, I receive a nice, cordial and respectful employee on the other end of the phone every single time. An employee that is willing to help and answer all questions kindly. You would even have a bigger fan base if you would follow these simple words of advice. Thanks:) I rated them a number six, on how likely I would recommend sigsauer to a friend. The reason for this, is because of the poor customer service. Their firearms are excellent though and highly recommended.
