Description

Just for fun. Shooting a 1911 chambered in .22 LR is great practice and an ideal way to train new shooters. It is also affordable. A Kimber conversion kit for an existing 1911 pays for itself in the first few hundred rounds.

Kimber Rimfire pistols have the same features and unequaled performance as Kimber centerfires. Adjustable sight, bumped beavertail grip safety and extended thumb safety are standard. Aluminum slides and frames make rimfire pistols exceptionally light—ideal for young shooters. Conversion kits work with all Kimber .45 ACP pistols that have either 4- or 5-inch barrels and single stack magazines. They also fit most brands of 1911 pistols, provided they are mil-spec, single stack, and do not have a ramped barrel.

Features:

  • Adjustable sights
  • Beavertail grip safety
  • Extended thumb safety
  • Aluminum slides

This is my second purchase for Kimber 22 conversions. I have both the target and compact models. They are well made, accurate and simple to use. When I buy an automatic I also buy 6 magazines for each one. I have seen boxes full of guns no one can use because the owner lost or damaged the only mag they have. No working mag = no working gun. Using just one mag means it gets all the wear and tear = wears out much faster than if spread amongst 6 mags. Others have recommended the GSG 1911 magazines because they have the last shot hold open feature that is missing on Kimber 22 magazines. The GSG mags are German made for Sig 22 conversions. They are made of heavy steel and Kimbers are a light weight synthetic. I have never used the supplied Kimber mag because I want the last shot hold open feature that is identical in function with same gun that the 45 mags have. I am using weight scandium/aluminum framed S&W 1911s. The conversion makes a very light package. The heavier steel mags may actually improve the balance and feel. Bottom line: They work very well for me = Love them.
