Steiner Military/Marine 8x30 Binocular 280

I bought this set of 8x30 last month since I read all the positive reviews. I like the sport auto focus that once set and done - no more chasing focus on a moving subject or struggling left or right with the focusing wheel on a distance subject. Sometimes I just want to pick up a set of binos and see things just happened without focusing - this Steiner MM830 got the answer for that. The images are so bright and crisp through them - awesome! I compared the MM830 with another set of binos with bak-7 and multi-coated lens and the MM830 gave the brighter image. I like the light weight and water/fog proof that can be used in any weather condition. They can be shareable with others if the auto focus diopters are set to zero - due to the better depth of field of the porro prism. Images are always crisp and crystal clear. Only pros, no cons from me ?

These are great binos. Light in weight, well made, and made in Germany.

I've always wanted a pair of Steiner optics but they were always out of my price range. Found a pair of 8x30 military marine binoculars at a store closing. The difference in quality is instantly recognizable. Compared my old set side by side with the Steiner's, there was no comparison! The image quality and brightness blew my old set out of the water. I can't beleive I went all these years without buying a quality set. I'll never go back to cheap optics again

I had these binoculars for several years and loved them. They have been on 5 continents with me until they became defective. The binos will no longer focus the same in both eyes. I'm going to try get them repaired under their awesome warranty (part of the reason I bought them). The test of the company will be if they live up to their warranty promises. I would give these 5 stars until the malfunction.

I purchased my Steiner's in 1993 through the military exchange store where I was stationed at the time. Rather than the MM830 Military/Marine they are the "Hunter" version and are stamped "Made in West Germany". The Berlin Wall was still dividing the city. None the less, my vintage binocs seem similar in appearance. In over 23 years I have used these binoculars regularly for hunting and bird watching in all weather conditions and they have not disappointed. The individual eye lens focus feature versus the center focus system makes for a very rigid frame free of any hint of nightmare divergence problems. This robust system is difficult to find in other brands, thus deserving of the "Military" designation. The clarity is such that I can easily distinguish two of Jupiter's moons at only 8 power. My only markdown is for flaring when direct sunlight enters a tube which washes out the image markedly. You can spend much more for a "big 3" brand but any slight improvement would be disproportionate to the money spent. Durable and a good value.

This is my second pair of Steiner Binoculars, I love the quality of the binoculars from the housing to the optics, you can't beat them, highly recommended.

I bought a pair of these through an online store and was happy I did. Very clear glass and built like a tank. I use these at the gun range as well as at my work and couldnt be happier. Clear vision and minimal adjustment needed.

I used them on the boat this weekend and they performed better than expected. Crisp and clear with separate eye adjustments.

I have had these binos for over 3 years and used them in all weather. They have great light gathering capability and are rugged. The end caps are great to help keep clean and protect the lens while stowed.

I found a pair of Steiner 8X30 Military/Marine binocs while hunting deer on Kodiak Island Alaska recently. They were barely visible in the mud. I pried them out and had to jerk on the strap to dislodge it. They were there a while. I joked to my hunting partner that someone might be back for them and hung them in a tree for the rightful owner. Not sure the owner had survived the loss as there were clearly bear tooth marks on them. Really didn't think much about it until back at camp that night when a fellow hunter said "they probably would replace those". Shoot, I had abandoned them out there somewhere. Well couple days later with no effort to look for them I stumbled upon the tree I had hung them in so now I was the rightful owner I guess. I grabbed them. Upon further encouragement I looked into service. They were beyond hope with water in optics... I sent them in and about 10 days later with no questions got a brand new pair sent to me. To same I am pleased would be a pitiful understatement. Merry Christmas to me!!! Thanks Steiner. You rock.

I have always a heard great things about Steiner. I have been looking for a decent pair but the price tag normally came with it. I happened to find these about half price and instantly fell in love with the sport auto focus. This will make it super easy for on duty surveillance. Only adjust the oculars once and bam, your done!

My father left me some steiner 8x30 binoculars. They had developed a prism problem. I sent them in, and a few months later I package shows up with new 8x30's. WOW! Thats a warranty! Anyway, the new 8x30's look super nice. In fact I'm hard pressed to find any difference between them and my higher end($750.) nikons.Very pleased with the Steiner glass & support.

Do your research. I received them 3 days ago, and are outstanding. It's a whole new world of crystal clarity, lite weight and protection system second to none! Thanks Steiner for great German engineering.

Quality optics in a small package....I had been looking for something relatively small and light weight and with quality optics

I was skeptical at first when I saw these at the 2015 SHOT Show in Las Vegas this year, after looking at all of the binocular manufactures at the show I was met by a representative within the Steiner booth and was shown these inexpensive 8X30’s.I was looking for a decent pair of binoculars that I could use for my travels to Thailand and how happy I am that I bought these. When you first try to demonstrate these 8X30’s within a small area such as a large retail store with poor indoor lighting I don’t think that you’ll be too impressed. You won’t get the full advantage of them until you adjust them from a braced position outdoors to enjoy the full potential of these Steiner’s.All of my friends were trying to get me to purchase other manufacture’s binoculars that were in the $300 - $400 price range. For the price you can’t go wrong, and not having to adjust the focus is a big plus in my opinion, well worth the money.

These are great binoculars for the price. They are bright, sharp, and have great contrast . The small size is surprising until you look through them, then a new wide view opens up that is pleasantly surprising. I was used to large, heavy ones, so the small, light MM3!0's are perfect for hiking the mountains and desert!

Purchased Marine 8x30s at West Marine for work and sports viewing. Now I know what I've been missing using lesser glass. The light transmission and field of view really make a difference versus what I had been using. The sports focus is fantastic. Set it and forget it. Everyone who tries them can't believe the clarity. Overall a wonderful product at a reasonable price. Will not be my only pair of Steiners.
