I was raised on iron sights back in the Neolithic era when it wasn’t a question of “if” optical sights would break but rather “when” they would break. However that was then and this is now. I purchased an RMR-2 from Eurooptic and bolted it atop a 4x32 ACOG as a CQB sight-but it is much more than that. Dial down the brightness and it’ll allow my rifle to hit gallon sized rocks at 300 meters every time. Two days ago I knocked my rifle off a boulder and it landed on another boulder. The entire impact was taken by the right corner of the RMR and other than a visible scuff there was no damage to the optic.
