Despite the name, the No. 3 Russian Top Break revolvers were actually designed in the USA by Major George Schofield. The top break design made them easy to reload single handed, making them an appealing choice for cavalrymen. The Russian Government recognized the efficiency of the top break design and ordered 41,000.
